About The Singers’ Club of Cleveland
The Singers’ Club of Cleveland, a male chorus established in 1891, gave its first public performance on May 19, 1892. Over the years, the Club grew to be a substantial chorus, with up to 125 singing members. Today, The Singers’ Club balances a blend of traditions and innovations. Our repertoire is unique and challenging. Our membership is diverse, drawing singers from many northeast Ohio communities and walks of life. We have awarded scholarships for many years, and take pride in those whom we support. Awards recipients are often featured soloists in The Singers’ Club concert season.

S. Livingston Mather
S. Livingston (Liv) Mather was a dedicated member of The Singers’ Club for many years, and a devoted friend until his death in 1960. The Singers’ Club is grateful to the Trustees of the S. Livingston Mather Charitable Trust for their funding of the grand prize scholarship.

George L. Hackett
George L. Hackett was a member of The Singers’ Club for fifty years. He served the Club in many capacities, including president, and was awarded honorary membership in 1993. In 2000, his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Robert Arnold, established a scholarship fund in his name. Subsequently, many others have contributed to the George L. Hackett Scholarship Endowment Fund as a memorial to this fine gentleman.

Albert Rees Davis
Albert Rees Davis provided musical leadership to The Singers’ Club during his tenure as conductor from 1906 to 1919. The Albert Rees Davis Endowment Fund was created at his death. The fund has given sustaining support to The Singers’ Club of Cleveland ever since, and currently provides up to three Albert Rees Davis scholarship awards annually.
